It’s in the news  every week – State and District Wide Cuts in Education.  The district my kids attend are closing schools, charging for busing, increasing fees for extracurricular activities and the list goes on.  The question on my mind is ‘how will the budget cuts impact the district’s ability to give my children a 21st century education’?   My district’s ITS strategic plan has a great vision in filling their current technological gaps to enable 21st century learning – but where is the funding?

Cisco introduces next generation 322 Terabits routing system

Cisco today announced a major advancement and “game changing”  technology in internet routing with its CRS-3 carrier class routing system.  According t to the announcement the CRS-3 has triple the capacity of its predecessor CRS-1 and can route data at an astonishing speed of 322 Terabits per second. To emphasized its claims, Cisco compared the amount of bandwidth that router can handle to downloading every motion picture ever made within 4 minutes or having all the people in china  get onto a video call simultaneously.
