In today’s environment, schools are always looking for ways to create small budget revenue streams such as with grants, e-rate funding, ARRA etc to fund various projects that were not in the current budget. School athletic programs are not excluded. More and more of this budget is going away and falling to the parents to help support. I was just at a fund raising meeting last night for my daughter’s high school basketball program. We are $2000 in the hole from last year and need $10,000 to rebuild the program for this year. And of course the athletic budget from just our school was slashed $60,000 from the previous year. Ouch!
